Author Guidelines

Defining the Guidelines for authors

Authors interested in publishing in the Journal of Systems, Informatics and Information Technologies (JSIIT), may submit original articles and review articles, which must meet the established publication standards to be accepted in the peer-review process. Only unpublished works that are not committed to other publishers will be accepted. The publication languages will be English and Spanish.

The Journal of Systems, Informatics and Information Technologies, based on its open access policy, does not apply charges for article submission, processing, and/or publication, so each accepted manuscript is treated free of charge. The Ethics Statement, Code of Conduct, and anti-plagiarism policy of the journal emphasize the originality of the manuscripts.

Contributions may be written in Microsoft Office Word, always using Times New Roman at 10 points and paper with dimensions of 21 cm x 29.7 cm (A4 format). The left and right margins will be 1.6 cm, leaving 1.9 cm for the top and 2.54 cm for the bottom. The texts must be written with multiple spacing 0.95 and back spacing of 6 points as a separator between sections. Before submitting, check that your contribution meets the minimum requirements to enter the editorial flow. The editorial committee suggests the use of the templates provided on the platform in Microsoft Office Word format or in LATEX format.

Articles submission

Authors with Internet access may submit their papers through the web version of the journal, available at https://revistas.unsa.edu.pe/index.php/rsiti. In the same way, collaboration proposals will be accepted in electronic format addressed to epis_rsiti@unsa.edu.pe. All communication between authors and collaborators with the editorial group will be carried out exclusively through this email account.

The authors, by submitting their manuscript, accept compliance with the RSITI editorial rules, guidelines, and policies, especially the Ethics Statement, the Code of Conduct, and the Anti-Plagiarism Policy.

Authorization

Only the works that are presented with the proper authorization of the institution where they have been carried out will be published. The authors must attach the Declaration of Authorship document signed by each author where they express the originality of the work, that it has not been published in another medium, that it has not been submitted to parallel review in another publication medium, that all the authors have contributed to the preparation of the article and that there is no conflict of interest or conflict of intellectual property with the information contained in the article. It is the exclusive responsibility of the authors to include and/or send content that may be considered restricted or confidential by the institutions to which they have been attached.

Authorship

It is limited to those who have contributed substantially to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the investigation. All who have contributed in this way should be listed as co-authors. Authors should carefully consider the list and order of authors before signing the manuscript. Any change can be considered upon the request of the corresponding author, with the rationale, approval of all authors (initial, added, or removed), sent before the acceptance of the manuscript, and approved by the Editorial Board.

Article structure

All materials to be published will have:

  • Title in English and Spanish.
  • Full names of the author(s), ORCID code, current institutional affiliation, city and country. The full name of the institution, including email, must always be indicated. Mark the corresponding author with an asterisk (*). Use super numeric indices at the end of full names to distinguish authors with different institutional affiliations.
  • Summary or abstract in English with an extension between 150 and 250 words.
  • Abstract in Spanish with an extension between 150 and 250 words.
  • Keywords in English and Spanish, between four and five words.
  • Pages should be numbered in the lower centre.
  • Do not use unnecessary abbreviations or acronyms, when they appear for the first time they must be accompanied by their meaning.
  • The International System of Measurements and the comma (,) will be used in the figures.
  • Tables and figures must be inserted in the body of the text and preferably in vector formats.
  • The title of the figures will be placed at the bottom using Times New Roman at 8 points, they must be centred and numbered sequentially. If texts are included, the same language as in the contribution will be used.
  • The titles of the tables will use Times New Roman at 8 points, they must appear at the top, centred and numbered sequentially. If explanatory notes are used at the foot of the table, Times New Roman should be used at 6 points.
  • The original articles will have an extension between 4 and 8 pages, the review articles will have an extension between 6 and 14 pages.
  • Original articles will have at least 8 references and review articles will have at least 12 references.

The structure of all articles will be as follows:

  • Title (English and Spanish)
  • Abstract (English and Spanish)
  • Keywords (English and Spanish)
  • Introduction
  • Materials and methods o Computational methodology
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusions
  • Acknowledgments (optional)
  • References

References

References must be cited in the body of the article according to the IEEE style manual. Sequential numbering within square brackets is used after the quoted phrase, after a space, on the same line of text, and before any punctuation. Each number corresponds to a reference containing information from the cited source. Citations are numbered in the order they appear. Once a source has been cited, the same number is used for all subsequent references in the report. No distinction is made between electronic and print sources, except in citation reference details.

Examples:

  • “The theory was first put forward in 1987 [1].”
  • “Wing[2] has suggested…”
  • “For example, see [3].”
  • “Several studies [4, 5, 6] have suggested that…”

It is not necessary to write “at reference [2]”. Just type “at [2]”. The preferred method for citing more than one source at a time is to list each reference in its own brackets, then separate them with a comma or hyphen: [1], [3], [5], or [1] - [5]

The following examples show the format for a variety of electronic and print sources. These citations are the most used, the complete list can be found at (http://ieeeauthorcenter.ieee.org/wp-content/uploads/IEEE-Reference-Guide.pdf).
