COMPLEXITY IN THE SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN

Abstract

Governments that serve the interests of political and business elites have used technosciences to transform economic, political and social structures, based on developmentalist and neoliberalist discourses that have caused serious damage to the peoples of Latin America. On the other hand, there is a network of academics and scholars of social problems, who, through the Sciences of Complexity and situated, local or contextual thinking, investigate alternative models of life and coexistence, which seek a more dignified, inclusive and respectful life. This network exists and emerges on a daily basis, with the permanent effort of many people who, in an evolutionary and self-organized way, work from their respective trenches.
