Citizen participation and crime prevention in the district of Cayma, Arequipa 2022

The general objective of the research was to examine citizen participation in the district of Cayma to prevent crime, carrying out a basic qualitative research with an ethnographic design. It deployed as categories citizen participation and crime prevention; and as a technique and instrument it applied the interview and the interview guide. The research concludes that in the district of Cayma, citizen participation is exercised through preventive programs that are promoted by district police stations through their Citizen Participation Office, being the most outstanding preventive program the neighborhood council, making rounds or patrols together with the PNP with the sole purpose of providing security to their community and thus trying to reduce the crime rate in the district.
