Objective: The main objective of this study is to elucidate the complex relationship between bullying, perceived social support, and suicidal ideation among adolescents enrolled in public educational institutions in Arequipa. Method: A non-experimental, cross-sectional, correlational research design was used to investigate a sample of 632 students from the third to fifth years of secondary school, aged between 13 and 18 years. The Multimodal School Interaction Questionnaire (CMIE-IV), the Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale (EMASP), and the Beck Suicidal Ideation Scale (SSI) were used as measurement instruments. Results: The analysis revealed a substantial positive correlation between bullying and suicidal ideation (RHO= 0.70; p< 0.05), along with moderate negative correlations between perceived social support and suicidal ideation (RHO= -0.45; p< 0.05), as well as between social support and bullying (RHO= -0.40; p< 0.05). In particular, adolescent girls showed a higher prevalence of suicide plans and attempts compared to their male counterparts. Conclusion: Bullying emerges as a significant risk factor contributing to suicidal ideation, while social support is identified as a protective factor. These results underscore the imperative to strengthen emotional connections within family and educational settings through targeted preventative strategies and emotional support mechanisms.
