Introduction: this nursing narrative research allows for reflection on experiences and generates knowledge through patterns defined by Carper (1978): empirical, aesthetic, ethical, and personal, promoting holistic care. Watson highlights comprehensive care that encompasses physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects, fostering relationships based on empathy and respect.
Methodology: This research work is of the Narrative Qualitative type, where there is a selection of the participant, collection of the narrative, pattern analysis, and interpretation, and it concludes with a reflection.
Results: A case described by a patient of 78 years old with probable pneumonia who, based on imaging studies that confirm the disease of pulmonary sarcoma, initially showed arrogant and hostile behavior, reluctant to interact. However, through warm approach, emotional and spiritual support from the nurse had a positive influence on the patient, affecting their acceptance of medical treatment. Thanks to this human and professional bond between patient and nurse, it was proved how empathy and respect help the patient's adaptation.
